Directions

By Car

From London take the M11/A11; just outside Norwich take the A47 (Southern Bypass) in the direction of Swafham; the University is signposted off at the next exit. If you are driving from the North or the Midlands, you can use the A47 via King’s Lynn, or the new A14 as far as Newmarket and then take the A11 to Norwich. UEA is situated on the outskirts of Norwich, around two and a half miles west of the city centre, just off the Earlham Road (B1108) which is one of the main roads out of the city.

By Bus or Coach

National Express coaches run from all major cities in Great Britain to the Surrey Street Bus Station in the city centre. Buses run regularly from nearby Castle Meadow and St Stephen’s Street in the city centre to the University campus.

By Train

Norwich is less than two hours from London by train and there is an InterCity link with the Midlands, the North of England and Scotland via Peterborough. Trains run from London Liverpool Street approximately every 30mins. The easiest way to reach UEA from the station is by taxi which takes approximately 15 minutes. There are regular buses direct to the University from just outside the station on nearby Thorpe Road, and a bus runs straight from the bus station to the University.

Parking

Sportspark has its own car park which is accessed from University Drive. The Sportspark car park is free for Sportspark customers whilst using the centre. Tickets are taken on entry and must be validated at Reception on departure. Parking is limited and unfortunately cannot be guaranteed at busy times. If the Sportspark car park is full during busy times, Sportspark customers can park in the main UEA car park.

Sportspark users can park for free in the main UEA car park at weekends and after 16:30 on weekdays. Tokens are taken on entry and can be validated by a machine in the Sportspark Reception. At all other times, UEA visitor charges apply:

  • Monday-Friday 06:00-13:59 £1 per hour
  • Monday-Friday 14:00-01:59 £1 flat fee
  • Monday – Friday 02:00-05:59 £1 flat fee

Charges are collected by pay-on-foot in the main UEA car park. Once validated at Sportspark you must take your token to the Pay on Foot machine in the main UEA car park before attending at the exit barrier. Tokens are valid for 15 minutes. Please note, normal car parking rates apply on bank holidays.

Bike racks can be found in front of the Sportspark entrance opposite the pool and fitness centre windows. Bikes are left at their owners risk. Bike locks should be used but cannot be provided. Sportspark will not accept any responsibility for any damage or loss to bicycles left.

Disruption to Sportspark Entrance

Due to infrastructure work being carried out for the new Enterprise Centre on the UEA Grounds, there will be a disruption to the Sportspark entrance and the University Drive exit lane onto Earlham Road. The exit will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 24th June to 13th December 2013 and we will be operating a one-way system. Vehicles will still be able to enter from Earlham Road but must leave via the Bluebell Road exit.

During busy periods we will have a manned temporary entrance between the entrance and the exit barriers and signage will be highly visible detailing which entrance to use, whilst the temporary entrance is open, the standard entrance will be closed so please ensure you look for the signage as the one-way system will prevent you from turning around.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to exit onto Earlham Road via an alternative designated route, although cyclists will be required to dismount. Pedestrians will be using the car park as a footpath temporarily so please ensure consideration for them when using the car park.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and we thank you for your cooperation.
