Athletics track to close for refurbishment
June 27th, 2011
The athletics track is due to close next month for essential refurbishment. Work will commence on 18 July and will take approximately five weeks, dependant on weather. During that time there will be no access to the facility.
The track refurbishment will include replacing worn areas on the track and run ups, recoating the surface layer, remarking and renovating the throwing cage area. The refurbishment will cost around £100,000 and is being carried out by the original track manufacturer Polytan. Due to the nature of the work, the entire facility including track and throwing areas will be closed to the public for the duration of the refurbishment.
Sportspark Director, Keith Nicholls said “We apologise for the inconvenience the closure will cause to our customers, but hope they’ll benefit from the improvements we are making. We will keep our customers informed on the progress of the work and of a likely reopening date.”
Updates on the work and the track reopening will be posted in the News section and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.
