Lifesaving course due to run in December

Due to popular demand we are running another National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)  course from Saturday 17th to Thursday 22nd December from 09.00-17.00 every day.

The nationally recognised award is a requirement to be employed as a lifeguard at Sportspark and most leisure centres across the UK. This year funding is available for 16-18 year olds who are not in full time education.

Sportspark is an approved training centre for the NPLQ. The course involves two units which will be taught in Sportspark’s conference facilities and swimming pool.

Every candidate, prior to commencement of training for the NPLQ must be 16 years of age and must be able to meet the following basic fitness criteria:

  • jump / dive into deep water
  • swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • tread water for 30 seconds
  • surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • climb out unaided without ladder / steps and where the pool design permits
