Pool closed for repairs

Sportspark will temporarily be closing its swimming pool for emergency repair work from Wednesday 11th January.
The swimming pool operates as two 25m pools which can convert to one 50m pool and has a moving floor in the shallow end. On Sunday a new component fitted last week in the jack which operates the movable floor in the shallow pool, failed. Maintenance teams and specialist divers have attempted to repair the damage but are unable to without draining the pool.
The pool opened on Monday after a planned ten day closure for maintenance work in the pool area and changing rooms. Work was carried out on the shallow pool’s moving floor, pool changing rooms and tile replacement around the pool edge. Maintenance was carried out around the pool area as well as in the pool changing rooms. The shallow pool was closed on Tuesday to allow for divers and engineers to inspect the damage and try to make repairs.
Acting Director, Maria Rowe, said: “We are really sorry to close the pool again just days after the planned shutdown. Our maintenance teams have worked extremely hard on improving the pool and changing facilities and are now working around the clock to rectify this problem as soon as we can. It is sadly one of those things which we could not have been prevented.”
“I understand the inconvenience this will cause to our members and casual users and I cannot apologise enough. At the moment it is unlikely that we will open until Wednesday 18th January but we will inform customers if that changes. We will be updating our members on the situation over the next few days and would advise users to check our website for the latest information.”
