Ellie Bandy

Sport/Discipline: Athletics; 60m, 100m & 200m Sprinter

A bit about me: Since moving to Norfolk, I have taken my sprinting to a new level. I have improved my 60m, 100m and 200m personal bests dramatically with the help of my coach Nate Rogers and the Norfolk Sports Academy. This has led to me being selected to represent England in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay and winning gold medals for England. I would love to represent England abroad with the ultimate aim being to represent Great Britain at major championships. After sprinting, I would love to become a Sports Psychologist and help athletes with the psychological aspect.

Proudest Sporting Moment: My proudest sporting moment would have to be when I came 2nd in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m at the Senior England Athletics Championships, which led to my first Senior England Selection. I went on to represent England at the Welsh Championships and won the 200m, and represented England at the Manchester Internationals in the 200m (coming 4th) and the 4x100m relay where we won gold. This was a very exciting opportunity and I was delighted to come away with gold medals for my first time representing England at a senior level.

Proudest Sporting Moment: In the British Championships, I have medalled 4 times and won the Commonwealth Championships country, as a 13 year old in 2019. Internationally I have won fights in European Open Cups where I’ve fought players who have been champions of their country, a Youth Olympic silver medallists and a number one ranked fighter in the world. As a first year junior, I expect to medal in European Cup events before I transition to senior Judo.

Emily Woods

Sport/Discipline: Artistic Roller Skating – Solo Dance

A bit about me: I started skating when I was 10 years years old in Great Yarmouth. Since then I have become a 10x British Champion in Artistic Roller Skating. I skate in the senior ladies’ solo dance category. I love being able to express myself through my routines.  I have been fortunate enough to travel across the world representing Team GB. Some of my favourite places have been Nanjing China, Ibague in Columbia and Barcelona, Spain. Also, I am a PE teacher and a coach at my club Stalham ARSC.  When I am not skating I love going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Proudest Sporting Moment: My proudest team sporting achievement is becoming 10x British Champion this year and representing my country and Europe in World Championships.

Rian Snell

Sport/Discipline: Athletics; 100m and Long Jump

A bit about me: I am Transplant athlete that started my athletic career at the age of just 4 at my first British Transplant games after receiving a live kidney transplant at the age of 3 in 2008, since 2009 being my first competition I have not stopped having a love for the sport going on to compete every year since, in 2018 I started my journey with Team GB at my first world championships, from their I have had the opportunity to represent Team GB at a further world championships and European championships having great success at each event I compete in.

Proudest Sporting Moment: My proudest sporting moment is the first time I stepped onto the track, coming from a transplant athlete it’s a great achievement to be given that second chance at life. My mum successfully gave me that chance, by donating a kidney to me, so stepping on the track is something I never thought I’d be able to do and then with the success that followed over the years I now hold that very first day to be my proudest sporting moment.

Calvin Smith

Sport/Discipline: Athletics

A bit about me: I started my athletics journey when I was 12 years old after joining City of Norwich Athletics Club. After trying a range of different events from throws, jumps, sprints and middle distance I decided I enjoyed sprints the most. During my athletics journey, I have achieved a number of national titles, and medals in the Norfolk, East of England and South of England Championships in all the different age groups from under 13s to under 20s. I have been UK number 1, won a number of Athletic Norfolk age group track athlete of the year awards as well as being runner up in the Norfolk and the Norfolk and Waveney Sporting awards where I was up against several different sportsmen/women from many different sports.  What I hope to achieve in the future short term is to be awarded my senior England vest representing England in the bigger championships like the Loughborough International as well as my Great Britain vest representing team Gb in the European u23 Championship.

Proudest Sporting Moment: To date, I would say my proudest sporting achievement was as an under 17 when winning the English Schools Championship for Norfolk in the 400m. As a result of winning Gold, I was awarded my England vest and went on to represent England in the Schools International Athletics Board Championship where I also claimed gold in the 400m and gold as part of the 4x400m relay.
